The Premier Inn is one of the largest and most recognised hotel brands in the UK, with a national portfolio of over 800 sites. Every year, the Premier Inn carries out a large scale refurbishment programme across their estate, bringing their rooms up to the new brand standards (ID4 and Premier Plus). These works are a mix of full strip-outs, full refurbishments, refreshes or partial upgrades.
Commencing in 2011 - 2019, Harris Evolution was appointed as a subcontractor to Whitbread's Main Contractor to deliver the M&E packages across multiple work-streams. During this period, Harris Evolution were part of the refurbishment team to circa 150 hotels.
The works remit varied from full electrical rewires, full mechanical upgrades to all risers and plant rooms, and further progressed into installation of joinery items / cased goods (TV, chimney breast, headboards, etc.) and taking on the full scope of works to the reception upgrade roll out programme.
During this process, Harris Evolution became a trusted subcontractor to Whitbread's Main Contractor and eventually became recognised by the Whitbread project team. Harris Evolution would often participate in pre-start and progress meetings with the Principal Contractor and the client.
This was a large scheme that was divided up into regions / work-streams and broken down further into phases of works. Dependent on the roll out programme / time of year, Harris Evolution would deliver works for up to six sites at anyone time. Programme deadlines where non-negotiable on all sites and Harris Evolution had to ensure that all handovers were met snag free, ready to welcome new guests.
