Holyrood Academy is a co-educational Academy providing secondary and sixth form education. As a consistently ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted performing school, increased demand for places had led to capacity issues.

After drawing up a master plan to facilitate the schools projected long-term curriculum needs, the clients design team set out drawings and specifications to undertake a phased refurbishment scheme that would allow the school to take on more students.

Phase 1 of this project involved refurbishing a total of four rooms to create additional capacity as well providing upgraded, modern learning spaces. Works included the remodelling of an existing Head Teachers office to provide two smaller offices, the creation of two classrooms, the reconfiguration of a Science Block and new lighting to an existing Music room.

Harris Evolution was appointed as the Principle Contractor to deliver Phase 1 of this project which consisted of a soft strip out, new flooring, fire door installation, decorations, a full M&E package, partitioning, window replacement, rendering and new ceiling grids. The project was delivered in accordance with the estates masterplan enabling future phases of this scheme.

All of the works were delivered during the summer holidays, whilst the building was vacant. Detailed planning was required to ensure the rooms were ready in time to welcome the students back for the new academic year.
